NamcoBandai to bring a slew of fighters overseas in 2014

NamcoBandai has announced a couple of highly anticipated fighters to be brought overseas (or in some cases world wide) in 2014.  The first of which is Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, which was first announced back in June.  The game will feature over 70 warriors to choose from, including characters from the latest Dragon Ball Z film, as well as 8 player free for all battles and 4 player co-op.  If you buy a game one edition, you will get a download code to give Goku a costume (and animations) mirroring Naruto Uzumaki’s sage mode form (similar to how Naruto got a Goku costume in his latest game, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3).  Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z will release on PS3, Xbox 360, and PSVita, however the PSVita version will only be available for digital download and will only feature one voice over option (English if you’re in NA or Japanese if you’re in EU).

The second big game is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle, which has already been released in Japan, will be brought over seas to US and NA regions sometime in 2014.  When the game is released in the west, it will include all of the on-going character balance being found in the Japanese version.  Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle is a PS3 exclusive and is being developed by CyberConnect2.

The final fighter announcement involves Soul Calibur: Lost Swords, the free-to-play single player game being released on the PSN.  The game will be launching later this winter and will include the characters Mitsurugi, Siegfried, and Sophita (who was killed off between Soul Calibur 4 and Soul Calibur 5.  The game will run on the latest iteration of the Soul Calibur 5 engine, and Producer Masaaki Hoshino is reported saying that “The game system itself is quite different, it’s been more streamlined and simplified so that people can more easily perform flashy, over-the-top maneuvers”

FromSoftware announced yesterday that Dark Souls 2 will be releasing March 11th, 2014 in NA, March 14th in EU, and March 13th in JP.  These release dates relate to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, while the PC players will have to wait until “shortly after”, the reason cited being so the PC version can “fully capture all the necessary specs”.  They also announced that there will be a collectors edition of the game containing the soundtrack, an artbook, a cloth map, and a 12 inch figuring of the iconic soldier character.  If you choose to just pre-order the regular edition, you will get a complimentary tin case to house the game and a copy of the game’s sound track.

Dark Souls 2 Beta Registration Starts Now

Artorias-of-the-Abyss_

Are you prepared to test?  If you’re one of the thousands, if not millions, of fans of the Souls series, and you can’t wait to get your teeth sunk into the next release, than I have good news for you.  From Software has announced via the Dark Souls facebook page that they are now taking applicants for the Dark Souls 2 beta that will run in October.  There is only one catch to applying: You must have a European PSN account.  If you’re one of the many people living in Europe and you want to apply, simply click this link, sign into your account, and “purchase” the application ticket.  If you don’t live in a European country and still want to participate, well no worries! It’s as easy as 1-2-3 to set up a Euro account and get started!  All you have to do is make an account in a European country, give it some fake billing information (or look up a real address, it doesn’t matter), and you’re on your way to the numerous ways From Software has planned for you to die.  The first round of the beta is to start on October 12th, and according to the facebook post, is supposed to be open to players from North America and Europe/Australia, however no word on how to get it with a NA account has been stated yet.

Tekken X Street Fighter Still Alive, Namco Swears It!

Hey guys, remember Street Fighter X Tekken? Remember what a rousing success it was with it’s gem system and disc-locked DLC and “Megaman”?  Good times huh?  Remember back when it was first announced, and they also announced Tekken X Street Fighter, the Namco developed counterpart to the game that would play more like Tekken?  Can you believe it’s been three years since it was announced and we’ve heard nothing from it?  Well, according to Namco, the game is still in development, so you don’t have to worry about that!  Series producer Katsuhiro Harada states that the game is still in development, and the team is waiting for the right time to release information about the game.  He says there were multiple reasons why they didn’t release any info, one of which being Street Fighter X Tekken actually releasing.  Harada also adds that Street Fighter X Tekken brought forth a new audience, one not interested in either of the titular fighters (yeah, that’d have to be the case for you to actually like that game, am I right?), and they want to nurture that audience instead of throwing out Tekken X Street Fighter while they’re still enjoying Street Fighter X Tekken.  While I suppose it’s good to hear that the game is still in development, and we can only hope it’s not nearly as big a mess as it’s brother, there’s one fallacy in his statements that throws me off: People actually enjoyed Street Fighter X Tekken? (If you’re curious about Steve’s attitude towards Street Fighter X Tekken, you can watch our review of it above, and harken back to the days of shitty intros and shittier skits *Mr Caffeine time noises*)
