All The Wii U Info You Need

All The Wii U Info You Need

So the Nintendo Wii U Preview event just ended, and I have your one stop shop for all the Wii U info you could ask for, I think. Let’s start with what is on everyone’s mind, Release date and Price. The Wii U will be launching later this year on November 18th, 2012. The system will release in two packages, the basic and deluxe package. The basic package contains a white wii u and wii u game pad, power cables and HDMI cable. The Deluxe package contains all that but in black, more on system memory, docking station for the gamepad, stand for the system and game pad and Nintendo Land. Also, if your purchase the Deluxe edition, you’ll be added to the Deluxe Digital Program, where you will receive points for buying digital content, which you can then use to get more digital content. As is known the Wii U works with all previous Wii remotes and nun-chucks, so there will be no new accessories like those except ones specially branded with the Wii U icon. The basic package will be $299.99 and the deluxe will be $50 more at $349.99.

Next let’s talk about the games. There were only a couple games specifically talked about at the event, but there appears to be a large number of launch window games planned to release between November 18th and March 2013. First shown was a new “attraction” at Nintendo Land, a metroid based one that comes with three game modes. There is a survival mode, where players team up against wave of enemies, an air vs ground mode, where players on the ground take control of Miis in the iconic Samus suit try to take down a player controlling Samus’s ship, and all ground battle that, as it sounds, is all players battling it out on the ground.

They also showed off a bit of New Super Mario Bros Wii U, which will be a launch title for the system. The game looks very similar to most other mario games, but I personally see something different in the art style, specifically the 3D art. It seems subtle, but still really good. The game will feature a sort of rush mode, where you try to complete four scrolling levels as fast as possible, which you can also do with a friend in co-op.

The third big game to be focused on was Call of Duty Black Ops 2. The game seems like it’s going to be a full out Call of Duty experience for the new nintendo system, including the multiplayer everyone loves, and, to my extent, something new to Call of Duty: branching story paths and non-linear gameplay in single player.

Here is a list of other games that, while were not focused too heavily on, where mentioned as launch window titles(These games will be released between Novemeber 18 and March 2013:

Bayoneta 2[Wii U exclusive]
The Wonderful 101, formerlly known as P-100

The final big reveal was a new bit of technology yet to be seen by consoles this gen. It’s called Nintendo TVii, and it is a way to control and watch your TV using your Wii U GamePad. With it you’ll be able to watch TV shows, movies and even sports from sources such as netflix, hulu plus, amazon and even your own TiVo. After selecting something to watch, your gamepad turns from a menu system to a way to interact with the very show/movie/sport you’re watching. When watching a movie or tv show, the gamepad shows various moments that it captures live which allows you to tweet about it, take polls and interact in many different ways. Along with all that, if you’re watching a sports game, you get to see chosen plays live as they’re used, statistics, players and scores for any other game you’re interested in. The program will allow personalized favorite lists based off your own Mii, along with the ability to do group favorite lists for your family.

And with that, you have all the info I have. If you have any questions be sure to comment and I’ll see if I can answer them, I may have accidentally left something out.
